What is LAPCAE?

The Louisiana Association For Public, Community, and Adult Education (LAPCAE) promotes parish and state educational opportunities for all persons who are directly or indirectly related to the education of students age 16 and over. The association:

Provides leadership in advancing the community, technical, basic and remedial education of adults by unifying the profession, providing professional development opportunities, funding educational research, communicating relevant legislation news to educators, providing scholarships to adult learners, and recognizing top state educators,

Promotes adult literacy, basic education, GED programs, community education, technical education, special education, English as a second language (ESL), and other programs which assist adult learners to function and advance in society,

Conducts and sponsors an annual state conference and other activities which provide professional development and connectivity opportunities for adult community, technical, basic, and remedial educators and administrators, and

Represents and communicates the interests and needs of adult learners and LAPCAE members to the Louisiana State Department of Education, the Louisiana Community & Technical College System, state legislators, and the general public.

LAPCAE membership is open to anyone interested in growth, advocacy, or leadership in the fields of adult and community education including, but not limited to the following areas:
Adult Basic Education
Basic Literacy
Correctional Education
English as a Second Language
Family Literacy
General Educational Development
Life-coping and Career-Related Skills
Special Education
Workplace Literacy
Technical Education
