LAPCAE MEMBERSHIP

LAPCAE Membership is open to anyone interested in growth, advocacy,
or leadership in the fields of adult and community education including, but
not limited to the following areas:
• Adult Basic Education
• Basic Literacy
• Correctional Education
• English as a Second Language
• Family Literacy
• General Educational Development
• Life-coping and Career-Related Skills
• Special Education
• Workplace Literacy
• Vocational-Technical Education
Annual membership provides access to all organizational media
information, reduced conference attendance rate, voting rights and other
membership privileges from July 1st of the beginning year to June 30th of
the following year. Types of membership are described below:
1. Individual-Professional Membership: Each professional member in good
standing during an active year is entitled to: 1) one vote on each matter as
presented by the Board of Directors, 2) the reduced membership
conference rate, 3) receive the quarterly news letter, and 4) eligibility for
Board candidacy during the third consecutive year of membership.
2. Individual-Paraprofessional Membership: Each paraprofessional
member, employed as a paraprofessional, education secretary, or teacher’s
assistant, in good standing during an active year is entitled to the same
rights and privileges as an individual-professional member.
3. Emeritus Membership: Each emeritus member, former individual
member who has retired and is no longer actively employed, in good
standing during an active year is entitled to the same rights and privileges
as an individual member.
4. Institution Membership*: Each institution member, as individually named
by the institution or organization upon application submission, in good
standing during an active year is entitled to the same rights and privileges
as an individual-professional member.
5. Honorary Membership: Each honorary member, former individual
member honored and recognized by the Board of Directors for
contributions made to Adult and Community Education, in good standing
during an active year is entitled to the same rights and privileges as an
individual-professional member.
*For the purpose of LAPCAE membership, an institution is defined as any
organized group which is regulated by a single administration.
